Raspberry Frozen Yogurt

This was too good to not share! My mom gave us her Ice Cream maker while down for Thanksgiving. It’s not the kind with ice and salt, but with an insert that you freeze instead.  I have this very old jar of store bought raspberry preserves in this nice “buckel top” jar that I want to empty,  so we decided to make Raspberry Frozen Yogurt.

Raspberry Frozen Yogurt

Makes about 6 servings

2 cups plain non fat yogurt

2/3 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup sugar or splenda

1/2 cup raspberry preserves

1 tsp vanilla

I made this batch with home made yogurt, which is very easy to make in your crock pot from powdered milk.  I used store bought raspberry preserves, yes, loaded with high fructose corn syrup, just to get rid of it.  Next time I’m going to try it with whole milk instead of heavy whipping cream to get the fat content down a bit. It came out GREAT, the tang of the yogurt was a nice offset to the ultra sweet preserves.  Next year I’ll make my own raspberry preserves, without any corn syrup, as we planted 4 raspberries last spring.
